  • Changeling Annual is an upcoming publication created by autistic children’s writer and poet Emmy Clarke, supported as part of Contact Theatre’s Future Fires scheme.

Changeling is looking for neurodivergent fiction writers, poets, artists/illustrators, and activity-makers to submit their work for publication in a collection in the style of a children’s annual.

    • You do NOT need to be professionally diagnosed.
    • Your submission(s) DO need to be suitable for children.
    • Your submission(s) MUST be entirely your own work.
    • Your submission(s) do NOT need to be about the neurodivergent experience, but they certainly can be.

Submissions open September 1st 2022 and close November 1st 2022.

Selected pieces will be published, creators paid £5 plus a contributor copy of the collection.

  • Visit our submissions page here.

    Or email with the following:

    • the title of your work(s).
    • your name (pen name is ok!)
    • your submission file(s) – up to 3 – as attachments.
    • if you can – but do not worry if not! – tell us a small bit about yourself in the body of the email, e.g.:

“Emmy Clarke is an autistic writer and poet from South Manchester. In July 2022 she was welcomed as a Contact Theatre Future Fire. She works as a Bookseller, and keeps chickens and two tabby cat brothers.”

If you require a different method of submission, this is okay. Adapt the process as necessary, and email in if there’s any way we can help the process become smoother.
