Mia Cosmetics in collaboration with ShowDesk activates the first Open Call for artist dedicated to the promotion of female artistic talent on the occasion of a new product line presentation. The project aims to reflect on the dynamics linked to industrial production trying to rethink production processes as useful opportunities to promote art. The goal is to experiment with a new approach to design which can generate opportunities and good social practices aimed at implementing ethical development models.

Prize
The winner, selected at jury discretion, can choose from the following prizes:

- Cash prize of € 1000 net of tax charges;
- 1000 euro shopping voucher to purchase Mia Cosmetics products;
- A 6-day artistic-educational residence in the heart of Naples with bed&breakfast formula and free access to the main places of historical and cultural interest in the city.

The winning work will be put in production on the occasion of the presentation of the new product line and spread throughout national and international territory in the months following the call deadline.
Part of the proceeds linked to the sales artist's packaging will be donated to the Skin Cancer Foundation for research and prevention of skin cancer.

2019 Paris Photo - Aperture Foundation PhotoBook Awards

Initiated in November 2012 by Aperture Foundation and Paris Photo, the Paris Photo–Aperture Foundation PhotoBook Awards celebrate the photobook’s contribution to the evolving narrative of photography, with three major categories: First PhotoBook, PhotoBook of the Year, and Photography Catalogue of the Year.

What winners receive

The First PhotoBook Prize
A $10,000 prize will be awarded to the photographer(s)/artist(s) whose first finished, publicly available photobook is judged to be the best of the year. Twenty books from this category will be selected for the shortlist, presented to the Jury for the final selection and exhibited during Paris Photo.

The PhotoBook of the Year Prize
This prize will be awarded to the photographer(s)/artist(s), and publisher responsible, for the photobook judged to be the best of the year. Ten books from this category will be selected for the shortlist, presented to the Jury for the final selection and exhibited during Paris Photo.

The Photography Catalogue of the Year Prize
Awarded to the publication, publisher, and/or organizing institution responsible for the exhibition catalogue or museum publication judged to be the best of the year. Five books from this category will be selected for the shortlist, presented to the Jury for the final selection and exhibited during Paris Photo.

The shortlisted books, accompanied by the jury’s comments, will be featured in the fall 2019 edition of The PhotoBook Review issue 017 (published by Aperture Foundation), to be released at Paris Photo.

Delivery of Books

All books must be received by Aperture’s New York office before September 13, 2019. This date does not include postmark. All entries must be physically received by this date and there will be no refunds if the books are not delivered on time. Books should be sent to:

MiXER 2019 - collaboration based residency - LAST MINUTE CALL

DO YOU HAVE ENOUGH COURAGE TO COLLABORATE?
MiXER is a cross-disciplinary collaborative “playground” / experiment where artists from different art-forms and cultural backgrounds are encouraged to engage, share methodologies and inspire each other. With the task of working together artists are given the opportunity to regenerate their creative dynamism, exchange and develop new ideas. Experiment with no fear of failure and thus assess their own artistic processes – learning valuable insights from other art forms.

WHY MiXER?
MiXER is a independent and flexible 3 weeks programme with a structured outcome. The selected artists from diverse artistic disciplines are paired up to work collaboratively on a new body of work. Furthermore their task is to assemble an ARTISTS’ BOOK covering the leading aspects of their collaboration.

Participants enjoy a dynamic and vibrant period of work in which they have a studio at their disposal in order to complete their set collaborative project.

The residency ends with a PUBLIC PRESENTATION of the completed project. 
The designed ARTIST’S BOOK is published,  
The published book remains a gift to the participating artists. 

 

ADDITIONAL PROGRAMS:
- (meet & greet) artist talk  
- a critique evening : an opportunity for artists to present their ongoing / in progress / work and get a firs handed respond from the public as well as invited art professionals.
